Ok so the BIOS update hasn't worked unfortunately. the PC is still randomly freezing. Any more ideas?

When was the last time you formatted the OS?

formatting, meaning the HDD where the OS is stored? If so about 3 months ago. One of the things I've tried a few times with no success

Hi Zulu

These are always a bit of a sod to chase down.

From experience I would look first at 3rd party software that is always on and running.
1. Remove your Kapersky and see if that makes a difference ( I have seen similiar issues with shonky dll's)
2. I had massive problems with the software that ran my gaming keyboard on Win 7 x64. Are you running the latest software for your keyboard? Do you have standard keyboard you can use so you can uninstall the current keyboard software and see if makes a difference?
3. Make sure all your other drivers are up to date i.e video, motherboard etc

Cheers

Hey Wulf,

Ok so update as of this morning.

Uninstalled Kaspersky. Hasn't changed anything.
All drivers are up to date (was done a couple of weeks ago). No change.
Trying to download latest software from Logitech for G5 Mouse and G510 keyboard but having issues on their download page. Once I can figure this out, I will update again.

Cheers again for your help with this.

Only other thing I can think of is it could be a HDD/SATA controller issue.
Check your power management settings and make sure your drives aren't spinning down after extremely short periods of time.
If they are spinning down it can cause the same kind of issues you are having happen.

Hey Wulf,

So Logitech software is now all updated and no change.
Have checked power settings and drives aren't set to turn off until 20 minues of inactivity.

Cheers

In power settings turn off the shutdown on disk activity so they are always on.
See how that goes.
